Small business owers and their employees in Union County  have a wealth of opportunities to grow their business knowledge and develop/hone their business skills.  Most programs are free or low-cost, with sessions during the day, evening and weekends. 

 

Small Business Development Center at Kean University:  A variety of educational and business resources are available to counsel and train small business owners to finance, market and manage their companies.  Workshops, counseling and mentoring are provided to start-up businesses and established operations.  Learn more by visiting the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers website

 

SCORE:  This organization utilizes volunteer retired business executives and other business professionals to provide free counseling and mentoring services for small business owners.  Additionally, workshops on a variety of subjects are offered live and online and a library of templates and tools can be accessed on the website.  Learn more

 

Industry-Business Institute at Union County College The Institute develops training solutions to improve overall productivity, reduce cost, and strengthen the competitiveness of local employers. UCEDC:  UCEDC offers a wide variety of educational programs designed to help small businesses to start, grow and thrive. Whether you're a business beginner, need a refresher in the basics, or are looking for a more intensive experience, UCEDC has the training program to fit your needs.

 

·         Business Basics:  These free two-hour workshops address a variety of business concerns for both start-up entrepreneurs and established business owners.  Topics include the ins and outs of financing your business, understanding your credit score and financial statements,  pricing your products and services, and practical marketing solutions.

·         Entrepreneurial Training Initiative: This intensive multi-week training program is offered in partnership with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA). UCEDC experts guide you as you assess your business readiness, create a business plan, and develop the skills you'll need to grow your operations.
