Land Development Standards

The purpose of the land development ordinance is to provide procedures, rules, regulations and standards for review and approval of land development applications to the County of Union pursuant to the New Jersey County and Regional Planning Act, N.J.S.A. 40:27-1 et. seq., as supplemented by the Laws of 1968, Chapter 285, and as amended to promote the public health, safety and general welfare of the County. Union County Design Standards
The Union County Land Development Standards were supplemented with revised Union County Design Standards for Development adopted in 2009 by the Union County Freeholder Board (presently termed Union County Commissioners) as provided herein. These design standards supplement or supersede design standards/details that were included in the Land Development Standards adopted by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders (presently termed Union County Commissioners) in 1999. These design details are to be included in site plan and subdivision plats in accordance to the County’s Land Development Standards for development applications submitted to the County Planning Board for review and consideration.
