Update for Union County’s Recreation Facilities, Programs, Parks and Park Reservations – cancellations, updates and openings resulting from Hurricane Sandy as of Thursday, November 8.
Union County Golf Properties: Will reopen on Monday, November 11th. Ash Brook, Galloping Hill and the Learning Center will open for business at 8AM and will resume winter business hours. Galloping Hill will only have 9 holes open while Ash Brook will have the full 18 holes open. Here are the winter hours of operation.

- Weekdays- 8:00AM until dusk
- Weekends- 8:00AM until dusk
The Learning Center
- Weekdays- 7:30AM until 8:30PM
- Weekends- 7:30AM until 8:30PM
Watchung Stables: The facility has reopened for Mounted Troop, Riding Lessons and regular office hours. Bridle trails remain closed for public and private trail riders. Please check with the facility regarding troop cancellations due to snow.
Trailside Nature & Science Center: The facility has reopened for regular business hours, from 12-5 PM Daily. All children’s workshops will be held, including “Toddler Time,” “Two of Us,“ “Small Fry Days,” “Afterschool Explorations” and “Trailside Explorers.” The following programs scheduled at Trailside, or Masker’s Barn are cancelled due ongoing storm related issues: Saturday, November 10, “Craft Day at the Barn” for adults and “Crafty Afternoon at the Barn” for families.
Warinanco Skating Center: Will reopen for all regularly scheduled public programs, ice hockey and facility rentals beginning at 3:30pm on Friday, November 16, 2012. Session 1 of Ice Hockey Clinics and Ice Skating Lessons will begin this weekend, November 16-18. For additional information call 908-298-7850.
Parks, Athletic Fields, Picnic Areas & Special Event Reservations: For safety reasons, all Union County Parks remain closed. Athletic Field, Picnic and Special Event Permits are cancelled until further notice. Echo Lake Park remains closed. Sledding is not permitted at this time.
Events: Pumpkin Sail and Hay Ride & Campfire: The Pumpkin Sail postponed from November 1 due to Hurricane Sandy, and the Hay Ride and Campfire scheduled for Friday, November 9, have been cancelled due to power outages and park conditions resulting from the storm. Ticket holders for both events will receive vouchers for refunds.
