Farmers’ Market Program

The Seniors Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) provides locally grown unprepared fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs to eligible seniors 60 years of age and older. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the New Jersey
Department of Health and Senior Services, administers the programs. Local farmers are recruited and trained to be Certified Farmer Vendors Seniors FMNP.

Each eligible Senior receives vouchers that can be redeemed for fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs grown by local farmers. The checks/vouchers are valid only from June 1st through November 30th. The Union County Division on Aging is responsible for coordinating each market and distributing the vouchers to all eligible Union County seniors.
