Ten Union County women were selected to receive awards for their outstanding contributions. The awardees will be honored at the annual Women of Excellence Gala Awards Dinner on March 27, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor 28 years, the Freeholder Board has recognized women among us who lead, serve, and inspire. Through their work, they raise awareness about the influence of women in every sphere of the Union County community, from business and legal affairs to public service and education,\u201d said Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella. \u201cWe are proud to acknowledge their contributions towards a positive difference in the quality of life for everyone in the County.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Union County women being recognized for their accomplishments by the Commission on the Status of Women are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Women\u2019s Advocacy<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Margot Baruch \u2013 Mountainside<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mental Health Advocacy<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Joyce Benz \u2013 Springfield<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Volunteerism<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Joan Crout \u2013 Westfield<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Environmental\/Activism<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Marian Glenn \u2013 Summit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Education<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Monica Goncalves \u2013 Elizabeth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lifetime Achievement<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Sister Percylee Hart, RSM \u2013 Scotch Plains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Healthcare<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Pamela Palmieri \u2013 Fanwood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Special Education Advocacy<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Diana Pinto-Gomez \u2013 Fanwood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Entrepreneurial\/Medical<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Nancy Polow, PhD. \u2013 Scotch Plains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Government<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Clara Fernandez \u2013 Elizabeth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each awardee will be presented with an engraved Women of Excellence plaque and a Freeholder Resolution in their honor recognizing their impact on the Union County community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2020 Women of Excellence Gala Awards Dinner will be held on March 27 at 6:00 p.m., at the Gran Centurions in Clark. The cost is $60 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Women of Excellence awards are sponsored by the Freeholder Board and the Union County Commission on the Status of Women,
