The Union County Board of County Commissioners is proud to present the Plant a Seed educational and environmental grant programs, Union County Kids Dig in! School Garden Grant and Union County Means Green Community Garden Grant.
Both programs provide residents with more opportunities for engaging in community service and creating a healthier, cleaner and greener Union County. Union County Kids Dig In grants are available to K-12 schools. Union County Means Green grants are available to community gardens in a wide variety of locations.
A total of 94 school and community gardens received grants in 2023. As of 2023, we currently have a school garden in all 21 municipalities.
The nonprofit organization Groundwork Elizabeth partners with Union County to administer the Plant a Seed grant programs.
