The Power of Planting Trees
We are back for another tree planting today! We have Union County Chairman Bodek in attendance with the students and staff at School No. 4! Awarded with a cherry tree, John from Groundwork Elizabeth, was able to explain how to take care of their new tree! Even though the tree is small right now, it has the chance to grow bigger and stronger every year! Don’t forget that with sunlight, water, healthy soil and lots of care, this beautiful tree will flourish!
Rooted in Community
The Borough of Fanwood was awarded with an apple tree! Thank you so much to the ladies from Groundwork Elizabeth for helping with this tree planting and educating all on how to maintain this beautiful tree! One day when the tree grows and produces apples, the fruit can be a reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together! Don’t forget to take a look at their wonderful new tree 😊

Thank you to the Harding School principal, teacher and students for coming out to meet their new cherry tree planting! Don’t forget that cherry trees are deciduous trees, meaning they lose their leaves in the fall and grow new ones in the spring! Continuing growing your garden and we would love to come back see the progress!
Tree-mendous Day!
Ashley and Stephanie from Groundworks Elizabeth were able to teach the students the importance of maintaining their new apple tree! Since this a young apple tree Battle Hill was given a donut shape water bag in order for it to establish strong roots! We’re back at Deanna G. Taylor Academy! This time for an apple tree planting 😊 We found out there is more than 7,500 varieties of apples around the world, each with its own flavor, texture, and color! We are very excited to see your tree flourish throughout the year! Thank you again for the amazing teacher and students for coming out!
Groundwork Elizabeth team came out to the township of Hillside for an apple tree planting! Here’s a fun fact: Did you know that it takes about 36 apples to make one gallon of apple cider? Just a fun idea for those who love apples! Thank you, Mayor Andrea Hyatt and her wonderful team, for coming to the apple tree planting!

Welcome to Hurden Looker School in Hillside! This school was awarded with an apple tree! Thank you so much to the students and teacher who came out for this special fruitful tree planting. A sweet stop, nothing beats exploring, learning, and imagining all the apples this tree will grow one day.
The Second Children’s Neighborhood House Tree
And just like that, we’re at our second stop for Neighborhood House in Plainfield! Along with Union County Vice-Chair Williams and the wonderful team from Groundworks Elizabeth! With this wonderful group of students and teachers, they were able to learn about their new apple tree! Now you can make apple pies, applesauce, apple cider donuts and more! We’re excited to see what you make!
