Welcome to Hurden Looker School in Hillside! This school was awarded with an apple tree! Thank you so much to the students and teacher who came out for this special fruitful tree planting. A sweet stop, nothing beats exploring, learning, and imagining all the apples this tree will grow one day.
The Second Children’s Neighborhood House Tree
And just like that, we’re at our second stop for Neighborhood House in Plainfield! Along with Union County Vice-Chair Williams and the wonderful team from Groundworks Elizabeth! With this wonderful group of students and teachers, they were able to learn about their new apple tree! Now you can make apple pies, applesauce, apple cider donuts and more! We’re excited to see what you make!
Children’s Neighborhood Tree
Did you know that Neighborhood House in Plainfield has two locations! For our first stop, Union County Vice-Chair Williams joined Ashley and Stephanie from Groundworks Elizabeth for this wonderful Cherry Tree Planting! The children were able to learn so much about cherry trees! We can’t wait to see the updates you have for this fruitful tree!
Small Trees, Big Impact

The Queen City Tree
We are honored to have the Union County Vice-Chair Williams in attendance with the City of Plainfield! Awarded this year with a cherry tree we are beyond excited to see how the Sloane Boulevard Community Garden will flourish this year! Together We Grow
This is the perfect location to grow apple trees! The area where the tree was planted the apple tree is in direct sunlight! Although the tree is small right now, we are excited for this tree to be taken care of! Ashley from Groundworks Elizabeth were able to educate the students on grafting! One tree can produce different kinds of apples through grafting, it has a sticky like substance that growers can attach branches from different apple varieties onto one tree. Allowing it to grow multiple type of apples!
Planting Kindness for the Planet
Thank you to everyone who attended this wonderful tree planting at Union County Vocational- Technical School! The Cherry Tree that was awarded to them, also serves as a symbol of patience and perseverance! Beyond their beautiful blossoms and delicious fruit, cherry trees provide shade, support pollinators like bees and butterflies, and add natural beauty to our shared spaces.
Nature’s Helpers
Tree planting day is a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn outside the classroom, to work together and make a positive impact! They were awarded with an apple tree this year! Apple Trees like the winter time due to a period of time where it goes through chilling hours to produce flowers and fruit the following year. We are excited to see how this apple tree flourishes!

This community came together for a special tree planting event that celebrated teamwork, environmental care, and our shared commitment to creating a greener future. In the spring, a mature apple tree may produce thousands of flowers, but only some of them develop into apples! Thank you to everyone for making this tree planting a success!
