This is the perfect location to grow apple trees! The area where the tree was planted the apple tree is in direct sunlight! Although the tree is small right now, we are excited for this tree to be taken care of! Ashley from Groundworks Elizabeth were able to educate the students on grafting! One tree can produce different kinds of apples through grafting, it has a sticky like substance that growers can attach branches from different apple varieties onto one tree. Allowing it to grow multiple type of apples!

Thank you to everyone who attended this wonderful tree planting at Union County Vocational- Technical School! The Cherry Tree that was awarded to them, also serves as a symbol of patience and perseverance! Beyond their beautiful blossoms and delicious fruit, cherry trees provide shade, support pollinators like bees and butterflies, and add natural beauty to our shared spaces.

Tree planting day is a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn outside the classroom, to work together and make a positive impact! They were awarded with an apple tree this year! Apple Trees like the winter time due to a period of time where it goes through chilling hours to produce flowers and fruit the following year. We are excited to see how this apple tree flourishes!

This community came together for a special tree planting event that celebrated teamwork, environmental care, and our shared commitment to creating a greener future. In the spring, a mature apple tree may produce thousands of flowers, but only some of them develop into apples! Thank you to everyone for making this tree planting a success! We look forward to seeing how your apple tree thrives!

The Green Legacy They Leave Behind

The wonderful students here took part in preparing the planting areas, placing the tree carefully into the soil! We learned that, just like students, trees need care and attention in order to grow strong! Awarded with an apple tree, this wonderful tree comes with different variety of apples such as Granny Smith, Gala apple, and Honeycrisp! We hope that the new tree will become a special part of their school! As the students leave their legacy behind journeying to another school after the summer!

Where Roots Meet the Future

This wonderful teacher and her students came out to meet their new apple tree! Ashley and Stephanie from Groundworks Elizabeth were able to walk through how to maintain their tree and to use the green “donut” to water as much as they can! We are looking forwarded to how this tree will grow! We hope you have an amazing summer and are looking forward to coming back next year!

Every Tree Tells a Story

Union County Commissioner Neron joined Chessie Dentley Roberts Academy School No. 30 for their cherry tree planting! Thank you so much to the students and staff for coming out for their tree planting! We were beyond happy to see the students smile for the plantings! One thing we learned about tart cherries is how they are a natural source of melatonin! A hormone that helps regulate sleep, it can help you fall asleep sooner and keep you sleeping longer! Like I always say, the more you know! 😊

On this beautiful morning we had the students and staff come meet their new Apple Tree! Thank you to John from Groundwork Elizabeth for explaining how their tree is grafted! Which means it will grow different kinds of apples 😊 We wish you the best of luck and are excited to see how the tree will grow!
