We are thrilled to share the first harvest from our school garden, thanks to the support of the 2024 Union County Kids Dig In Grant Award! Our students have been hard at work nurturing these plants, and we’re proud to present a colorful assortment of homegrown vegetables.

The picture showcases a vibrant green bell pepper, a couple of tomatoes, and some uniquely shaped produce, all grown with care and dedication. This initiative not only provides fresh, healthy food but also offers invaluable hands-on learning experiences for our students. Thank you to everyone involved in making this garden a success!

Students at Morris Union Jointure Commission have welcomed an ADA bed to their very own garden!

As we continue to see growth in their earth boxes, we have also seen new additions to their garden. Among these are colorful strawberry painted rocks. Did you know that these rocks are meant to deter insects and other animals from eating the real plants and vegetables? Very clever!

Students from the Morris-Union Jointure Commission, alongside Jackie from Groundwork Elizabeth, have planted their very own cucumbers!

Did you know that a raw cucumber is 95% water? Very similar to watermelons that are 92% water. Interestingly enough, a slice of cucumber pressed to the roof of your mouth for 30 seconds can kill bacteria and freshen your breath!

Fun Fact: The Morris-Union Jointure Commission (MUJC) is a regional collaborative public school district that provides services and programs to meet the needs of its 30 constituent school districts. MUJC provides public school programs in supportive environments for students with autism or autistic-like behavior at the two Developmental Learning Centers (DLCs) it operates in New Providence and Warren, New Jersey.
