Foreclosure Review Deadline Extended

Union County, NJ – The Union County Foreclosure Task Force is alerting residents whose homes were in a foreclosure process during 2009 and 2010 that the deadline for applying for a review of their case has been extended until July 31, 2012.

The review program is called the Independent Foreclosure Review. It was established by federal banking agencies in 2011 to provide eligible homeowners with a free, reliable investigation of any unfair practices involved in their foreclosure.

“If you have any doubt about your eligibility, please take a few moments to find out by calling the Independent Foreclosure Review program at 888-952-9105,” said Union County Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella. “If you qualify for a review, the program will determine an appropriate remedy for financial harm you may have unfairly suffered.”

To be eligible for a review, the mortgage must have been actively in foreclosure between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2010, and the property must have been the owner’s primary residence.

The Independent Foreclosure Review program maintains a list of companies covered by the program.

Union County residents who have questions about their eligibility for a review can call the Independent Foreclosure Review toll free, 888-952-9105, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or visit IndependentForeclosureReview.com.
