To better ensure fair hiring practices, applications are received by the Prosecutor’s executive assistants who redact the candidate’s name and any gender or ethnic identifiers from the submission packet prior to providing same to the screening committee. An Invitation to College and Law Students
Interested in Pursuing Careers in Criminal Justice
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office offers unpaid summer internships to college and law students interested in learning more about criminal prosecution. Additionally, the Prosecutor’s Office offers a small number of unpaid internships during the school year to law students. Interns are exposed to all aspects of the criminal justice system – from tours of the forensic lab to tours of the jail. Interns are often asked to assist in drafting research memoranda that serve as the basis of motions argued in court proceedings that the intern can then observe, and sometimes even participate in under the guidance of the assistant prosecutor.
Many of our assistant prosecutors and detectives, once served this Office as interns, and we view our internship program as an excellent recruitment tool for future employment.
