An autopsy performed on a 72-year-old man found inside his home on Tuesday morning have revealed that the victim died as a result of a homicide, said Union County First Assistant Prosecutor Albert Cernadas, Jr. The autopsy results were released earlier this afternoon and show that the victim suffered from stab-like wounds.
The Union County Homicide Task Force is investigating the death of Charles Panchery who was found in the kitchen of his home on 605 Green Street in Elizabeth. Police were called to the scene around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, said Cernadas.
This is the county’s 34th homicide for 2011 and the 16th in the city of Elizabeth. No arrests have been made but the Task Force continues to examine evidence and conduct interviews.
