Plainfield Man Convicted

A Plainfield Man was convicted on Sept. 29, 2011 for 3rd conspiracy to distribute cocaine and 3rd Degree conspiracy to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, announced Union County Prosecutor Theodore J Romankow.

Francisco Diaz, DOB: 10/1/1973 faces up 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in January, said Assistant Prosecutor Brent A. Bramnick, who prosecuted the case. According to the investigation, on April 1, 2010 Diaz sold cocaine to an undercover police officer in the area of the Netherwood Housing complex.  He was arrested a few weeks later as part of a roundup of street drug dealers in Plainfield, said Bramnick.

Diaz was found guilty after a four-day jury trial before Superior Court Judge Robert J. Mega.
