Bloods Gang Member Convicted of Assault Firearm and Related Weapons Charges

Dyshun Legette, 29, a verified member of the Bloods street gang was convicted last Thursday following a two-week trial and just over an hour of deliberation said Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

The charges stem from a several months-long criminal investigation led by Lieutenant William Turbett, Detective Ken Mikolajczyk and Detective Doug Fortuna in the City of Linden.  This investigation culminated in the execution of a search warrant on a local residence wherein the Bloods member was suspected of having weapons and narcotics for trafficking purposes, said Assistant Prosecutor Brent A. Bramnick who prosecuted the case.  In addition to the Assault Firearm, the February search warrant also turned up hollow-point bullets and two large capacity magazines.

The defendant who has a prior firearm and narcotic conviction faces up to 20 years when he is sentenced before the Honorable Robert J. Mega on January 20, 2012.
