Arrest made in recent Elizabeth Homicide

The Union County Homicide Task Force arrested a 23-year-old man last night and charged him with the March 7, 2012 shooting death of an Elizabeth man, announced Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Police were called to a gas station at the intersection of Pine and Third Street around 10p.m. on March 7. There they discovered Jose R. Garcia DOB: 7-29-1992 of Stiles Street, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Trinitas Hospital where he underwent surgery. He died around 1:30 p.m. the following day. It was the third homicide in Elizabeth for 2012.

Last night Tyshon McNeil (DOB: 8-23-1988) of 114 ½ Magnolia Ave Elizabeth NJ was charged with murder. He is being held in the Union County Jail on $1million bail.   McNeil is a confirmed Crip gang member, Hoover set. The arrest was the result of hard work done by Homicide Task Force Detective Carlos Rodriguez and Detectives Andy Dellaquila, Jim Szpond, and Tom Mikros of the Elizabeth Police Night Detective Squad.

These criminal charges are mere accusations.
The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
