The Union County Homicide Task Force continues to investigate the shooting death of an 18-year-old Linden woman who was killed late Monday evening, said Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.
At 11:55p.m. on July 9, 2012 Linden Police were called to the 500 block of Hussa Street follow reports of an argument and gunfire, said Romankow. When they arrived officers discovered Amber Wilson DOB: 2/12/1994 dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound, said Romankow.
Members of the Task Force and Linden Police Department worked through the night and continue to work today on the investigation. At this point it appears that the victim was walking from a local Dunkin’ Donuts when she was approached and robbed. During the robbery, words were exchanged and the recent Linden High School graduate was shot, said Romankow.
Investigators continue to examine and collect evidence and gather statements from neighbors near the shooting and in the area, said Romankow. Anyone with information regarding the shooting may anonymously phone in tips to Union County Crime Stoppers at (908) 654-TIPS, via the Internetwww.uctip.org, or text UCTIP plus a message to 274637. Information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for the death of Amber Wilson are eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
This remains an active investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
