State v. Peter Gobel

Note: Peter Gobel was sentenced to 9 years in state prison on October 19, 2012

On Friday August 24, 2012 a jury convicted Peter Gobel of 2nd Degree Eluding, Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow said.  Peter Gobel, 31, of Linden, N.J. faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in October, said Assistant Prosecutor Brent A. Bramnick, who prosecuted the case.  According  to testimony in court, Gobel was driving his 1995 Black Mustang on Route 1 and 9 in an erratic manner when Officer Kenneth Dalrymple of the Union County Police Department attempted to pull him over.

Instead of pulling his vehicle over, Gobel led Officer Dalrymple on a dangerous high speed chase.  The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons and Gobel was arrested the next day at his residence.  A jury convicted Gobel following a three day trial and three hours of deliberations.
