Two Jersey City men are being actively sought in connection with their alleged roles in the shooting death of a Newark man outside a Rahway nightclub last fall, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Monday.
Ericdelman Vega, 36, a.k.a. “Editto,” and 37-year-old Alexis Vazquez have been charged in connection with the death of 27-year-old Jorge Torres.
It was approximately 3 a.m. on November 10, 2013 when Rahway Police Department officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the vicinity of the Breathless nightclub on the 800 block of Hart Street in Rahway and located the victim seated in a vehicle parked just outside the entrance to the building’s parking lot, according to Union County Homicide Task Force Supervisor Michael Henn. Torres was pronounced dead at the scene.
An intensive seven-month investigation involving the Homicide Task Force and the Rahway Police Department resulted in the two defendants being identified as suspects, and charges against the two men were filed late last week.
Vega and Vazquez continue to be sought by detectives on their outstanding warrants, and anyone with information about their whereabouts is being urged to contact Union County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Andrew Dellaquila at 973-247-5771. Both defendants may be armed and dangerous, and members of the public are urged not to approach them directly. A reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the defendants’ arrests and indictments also is being offered by the Union County Crime Stoppers; tips can be given anonymously by phone at 908-654-TIPS (8477), via text message by texting “UCTIP” and a message to 274637 (CRIMES), or online at www.uctip.org.
These criminal charges are mere accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
