A man being sought by police in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Roselle last weekend has turned himself in, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park and Roselle Police Chief Gerard Orlando jointly announced Wednesday.
Nathaniel Price, 25, of Roselle is charged with murder and related weapons offenses in connection with the death of 21-year-old Tyquan Johnson of Newark.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, Roselle Police Department units rushed to the 1000 block of Rivington Street to find Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead later in the day.
A joint investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force, Roselle Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit quickly resulted in Price being identified as a suspect in the case, prompting a multi-state search also involving members of the U.S. Marshals Service. Price turned himself in to police in Roselle at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, after which he was lodged in Union County Jail pending a detention hearing.
Anyone with information about the shooting still is being urged to contact Homicide Task Force Sgt. Jose Vendas at 908-358-3048 or Detective Nelson Costa at 908-337-0807.
These criminal charges are mere accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
