A teenager was killed in Westfield Saturday evening when struck by a service vehicle driven by an off-duty New Jersey State Police Trooper, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Sunday.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Westfield Police Department patrol units responded to the 1800 block of Central Avenue to find the 13-year-old victim at that location. She was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is continuing, with the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, Union County Police Department, and Westfield Police Department assisting.
