Investigators are requesting assistance from the public in locating a man wanted for the aggravated sexual assault of a child, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Thursday.
Walter Sosa, 33, a registered sex offender in neighboring Somerset County, is charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child in connection with alleged conduct occurring during the last seven months in Plainfield.
Sosa’s last known home address was on the 800 block of East Front Street in Plainfield, and he has been known to frequent other areas in the city and neighboring North Plainfield. Investigators believe that he may be moving from place to place in that immediate area, and his aliases include “Walter Osmin,” “Sosa Solorzano,” “Daniel Soto,” and “Danny Soto.”
The fresh criminal charges against Sosa were filed on Saturday, August 5, and investigators have been attempting to locate and arrest him ever since. The Prosecutor’s Office today is releasing a recent photo of Sosa in the hopes that a member of the public may have seen him during recent days.
Anyone with information about Sosa’s whereabouts is being urged to contact Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit Sgt. Timothy Durkin at 973-698-9529 or Detective Nicholas Falcicchio at 908-721-8186.
Convictions on first-degree crimes are commonly punishable by 10 to 20 years in state prison.
These criminal charges are mere accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
