In the evening hours of June 3, 2020, members of the Plainfield Police Division were making an arrest of an eighteen year-old male in the area of the 300 block of Liberty Street in the City of Plainfield. During the course of the arrest, the suspect sustained an injury to his arm that required immediate medical attention which was timely facilitated by the Plainfield Police.
The Plainfield Police Division made the appropriate use of force notifications both internally and to the Professional Standards Unit within the Union County Prosecutor’s Office. As of Wednesday night the matter is under review by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office. “In order to maintain the trust the community has in the men and women of the Plainfield Police Divisio n, our agencies felt it was appropriate to have this matter investigated directly by the Prosecutor’s Office during this tumultuous time,” announced acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Director Lisa Burgess of the Plainfield Police Division.
