Investigators are requesting assistance from the public in locating a fugitive wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a child in Plainfield the summer before last, acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Plainfield Police Director Lisa Burgess jointly announced Wednesday.
Jose A. Donis, with a last known address on the 900 block of West Third Street in Plainfield, has been charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
A joint investigation by the Plainfield Police Division and the Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit revealed that the alleged sexual abuse took place from early June to late September 2018, when the victim was on summer vacation and the defendant rented a room in the building in which she lived, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Kathleen Dillon, who is prosecuting the case.
Donis was criminally charged in June 2020 and has remained at large since. A recent photo of him is being provided along with this press release.
