Fatal pedestrian hit-and-run under investigation in Clark

An incident in which a man was struck and killed by a vehicle that then left the scene in Clark this morning is under active investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo announced Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as James B. Leinbach, 82, of Clark.  

At approximately 6:04 a.m. Tuesday, Clark Police Department patrol units responded to the area of Raritan Road and Clarkton Drive and found Leinbach there, having sustained serious injuries from a vehicle traveling eastbound, toward Central Avenue, according to the preliminary investigation. He was subsequently pronounced dead.

This incident is under joint investigation by members of the Union County Homicide Task Force, the Union County Police Department Fatal Accident Reconstruction Team, the Union County Sheriff’s Office, and the Clark Police Department.
