Bob Menendez, one of the bill&#8217;s original sponsors, told about 80 people gathered outside the firehouse that\u00a0the law reassures\u00a0first responders their compensation will last.<\/p>\n<p>The James Zadroga<em>\u00a0<\/em>9\/11 Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act\u00a0reimburses\u00a0first responders\u00a0who contracted health issues after Sept. 11, 2001. The legislation expired Sept. 30, but there is still enough money to continue funding the program\u00a0for months.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Sen. Cory Booker,\u00a0U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr.,\u00a0U.S. Rep. Donald Payne, Jr., state Sen. Ray Lesniak and\u00a0Elizabeth Mayor J.
