S.H.OUT-U.C. offers a wide range of resources and volunteer opportunities that give middle and high school students in grades 6th-12th  the best volunteer experience.

S.H.OUT-U.C. accepts applications on an on-going basis from youth looking to serve their communities, complete required high school community service hours, supplement their college applications, or to get involved.

Our success has always been a result of the involvement of our citizens, community leaders and business owners who care about the future of Union County youth.

Benefits of Community Service Youth who volunteer just one hour or more a week are 50% less likely to abuse alcohol, cigarettes, become pregnant, or engage in other destructive behavior. Teens say the benefits received from volunteering are:

  • Learning to respect others; learning to be helpful and kind
  • Learning to understand people who are different
  • Developing leadership skills, becoming more patient, and
  • A Better understanding of citizenship
