HISTORIC RESTORATION GENERAL CONTRACTORS
REQUEST FOR BIDDER QUALIFICATIONS
Pursuant to NJ.S.A. 40A:11-25, “Prequalification of Bidders,” the County of Union is seeking qualifications from prospective General Contractors who specialize in preservation and restoration construction work, whose exterior improvements address roofing, exterior walls, exterior architectural trim, exterior doors and windows, reconstruction of exterior porches and whose interior improvements involve permanent structural repairs of wood framing, limited electrical service for illuminated exit signs with emergency egress lighting, new convenience outlets and outlets for electrical resistance heating units, to submit a Qualification Statement for:
Improvements at Buildings #4 and #7
at The Deserted Village of Feltville/Glenside Park

Contractors must submit a completed Bidder’s Qualification Statement in duplicate (one original and one complete unbound photocopy) in a sealed envelope cleared marked with Improvements at Buildings #4 and #7, the contractor’s name and address, to the attention of the Thomas O. Mineo, P.E., County Engineer, Union County Division of Engineering, 2325 South Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076. **Public access to the County of Union Engineering Building is currently restricted during the statewide public health emergency. Accordingly, there will be no in-person drop off of packages. Therefore, submissions must be sent by USPS, UPS, or FedEx for guaranteed delivery no later than 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 2, 2020 (no hand delivered submissions will be accepted).** The County shall not be responsible for submissions that arrive late or to the wrong location regardless of the postmark date or proof of drop-off of such submissions. Late submissions shall not be considered.
All respondents will be notified in writing of the decision as to qualifications. Only those determined to be qualified Historic Restoration General Contractors for this project will be invited to submit bids for the work. It is the County’s intention to release Bid Documents to qualified bidders shortly thereafter. Bid Documents are not available for review at this time.
This property is listed on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places, therefore all proposed work shall meet the minimum requirements of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties (Revised 2017). All prospective bidders must demonstrate that they have successfully completed projects of a similar scope and nature that followed the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties (Revised 2017), performed to the satisfaction of the Owner. This project has received grant funding from the New Jersey Historic Trust.
