The Union County Behavioral Health Advisory Board (BHAB) is a governing body responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of community behavioral health and substance misuse services in the county.

The board is composed of dedicated volunteers from various backgrounds who work together to address the impact of behavioral health needs on the local community.

Through a range of programs and initiatives, the board works to reduce the stigma associated with behavioral health and substance misuse and encourage individuals to seek help and support.

BHAB is committed to ensuring that services are accessible and affordable so that all residents of Union County have access to high-quality, effective prevention, treatment, and recovery services to help them achieve long-term wellness and recovery.

The board’s function and responsibility are to study and evaluate behavioral health related needs and services within the county and make recommendations on these related matters through the following:

  • Develop and recommend a comprehensive plan for alcohol/substance misuse services for the county.
  • Review, evaluate, and make recommendations to service projects submitted for available funding.
  • Review projects funded by the County for compliance with rules and regulations of the State Department of Human Services and Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
  • Review progress in the development of behavioral health/substance misuse services in the County and suggest recommendations to local agencies.
  • Review and evaluate local applications for County, State, and Federal behavioral health funds and report to the Board thereon.
  • Monitor the service delivery and administration of all programs under the Board’s jurisdiction
  • Carry out within Union County the purposes of State Law and the rules and regulations adopted there under pertaining to behavioral health and prevention, treatment, and care

BHAB meetings are held on Tuesdays at 4:30pm, starting in February. Please note that BHAB does not meet during the months of January, June, July, or November.

Meetings are held at the Union County Administration Building, 4th floor conference room or held remotely via the Zoom platform.

Meetings dates are subject to change. Date changes will be sent to all board members.
