Eligibility and Application Process

Who is eligible for this program?

To participate you must:

  • Be a Union County resident age 60 years and over
  • Agree to attend a nutrition education program offered by the Division on Aging at least once a quarter
  • Provide all necessary information during intake

How do I apply? Please contact the Division on Aging at 908-527-4870 to apply for the program. Staff will complete the application with you on the phone.

Note that we are required to have a complete application to enroll participants in the program. Refusal to provide required information during the initial call may result in the inability to obtain a voucher.

Information About Vouchers

Is there a limit to how many vouchers I can receive? Each participant will receive a total of 3 vouchers for the calendar year.

Does the vouchers have an expiration date? The expiration date is December 31, 2024. Vouchers must be used within the documented time. Expired vouchers will NOT be accepted by the restaurant.

I love this program! How can I help expand it? Donations are welcome! The suggested amount is $3 per voucher. An envelope will be included with the voucher to allow donation to be mailed back to the Division. Donations are used to provide more meals/vouchers to seniors in the community.

If sending a check or money order, please make payable to the Union County Division on Aging.

What happens if I lose my voucher? Unfortunately, we cannot replace or reissue lost vouchers. Please keep your vouchers in a safe and secure location.

Restaurant Do’s and Don’ts

How do I use my voucher at the restaurant? Each voucher must be cut by the consumer and one single voucher must be given to the server at the time of ordering. An ID must be presented to the server and it must match the name on the voucher.

Can I bring a friend or family member? Yes, friends and families can accompany you while you visit. However, vouchers cannot be shared with others guests. Non-participating guests accompanying the participant must pay full amount for their meal. Tip is included for the vouchered meal only

What can I order from the restaurant? Each participating restaurant developed a special menu for this program. Participants can only use the voucher to order from the approved menu. No substitutions are not allowed. Beverages allowed are coffee, tea, and water. All other beverages will not be covered under the voucher. Items ordered off of the standard restaurant menu must be paid separately to the restaurant.

Can I order to go or get it delivered? What about leftovers? Carry-out and delivery orders are not allowed. Meals must be consumed at the restaurant. You can, however, take your leftovers home.
