The Sheriff’s Office employs numerous officers who are certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). These officers respond to medical emergencies occurring within the Courthouse Complex. They assess the situation, stabilize the victim, and coordinate the appropriate medical response with Emergency Medical Service Providers.
Several of our Sheriff’s Officers are also certified American Heart Association CPR instructors. They conduct CPR training sessions for Sheriff’s Officers and police academy recruits. Additionally, our Sheriff’s EMTs provide NARCAN training and N95 mask fit testing for the agency.
The UCSO currently maintains six defibrillators, with one located in each building, all of which are accessible to and operable by trained officers.
All personnel hold current CPR AED certification and are trained to deliver essential life-saving services.
