In 1993, the Union County Sheriff’s Office S.L.A.P. (Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program) program became operational. Fully supported by the judiciary, this program is an alternative to incarceration for persons sentenced by Municipal or Superior Court Judges.
It is essentially a public work program supervised by the Union County Sheriff’s Office S.L.A.P. Division. Participants are closely screened and must meet rigid eligibility requirements.
