Investigations Unit personnel assist with the creation and maintenance of the integrity of targeted patrol areas as well as working with community members to develop, implement, and manage problem solving systems.

The unit is led by Captain David Krill and consists of 2 lieutenants, 3 sergeants, and a small specialized group of officers. These officers safeguard our courts and enforce its rulings by apprehending those that flee from Justice. Officers blend the latest in computer technology with long-established methods of policing in their investigations, which can last from days to years. Methods employed by these officers are as complicated as tying together information from various state and national databases, to simply talking to citizens within the community. Members of the unit serve with the United States Marshal’s New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, and local municipalities to apprehend the most violent of fugitives across jurisdictional and state lines and safely return them to answer their charges in Union County.
