The Sheriff sale for February 20 is canceled due to inclement weather

Union County Sheriff Peter Corvelli thanks Linda Blick from the Tails of Hope Foundation and Toni Giordano Picerno and Rich Picerno for the donation of Canine Counterterrorism Operational First Aid Kits (COFAK) to the teams of the Union County’s Sheriff’s K-9 Search and Rescue Unit. They were joined by Undersheriff Jonathan Parham andofficers from the K-9 unit.
Toni and Rich, owners of Picerno Giordano Construction in Kenilworth, donated the COFAKs to the Sheriff’s Office through the Tails of Hope Foundation. Each of the Sheriff’s 5 K-9 teams received one of the kits which contains more than 100 items, including nerve gas and narcotic antidotes, combat gauze, tourniquets and a portable canine stretcher. Due to the national day of mourning observed on Wednesday, December 5th, the Sheriff Sale for that day is cancelled. Federal courts are also closed for the day.
There will be no Sheriff’s Sale on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Union County Freeholder Chairman Sergio Granados and Freeholder Alexander Mirabella today joined Acting Union County Prosecutor Michael Monahan, Union County Sheriff Peter Corvelli, Union County Public Safety Director Andrew Moran, Union County Police Chief Chris Debbie, Union County Manager Ed Oatman and Deputy Manager Amy Wagner at the Union County Gun Buyback event at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Elizabeth. Guns were also collected at the Visions of God Family Worship Church in Plainfield.
The Union County Chapter of Moms Demand Action also were on hand at both gun buyback locations, offering free gunlocks to the public. The gun buyback event is supported by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and sponsored by the Union County Prosecutor and the Union County Sheriff with the Union County Division of Police and the police departments of the cities of Elizabeth and Plainfield. The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders reminds residents that they can anonymously turn in unwanted guns in their possession at either of two locations on Saturday, October 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The two locations are the Macedonia Baptist Church at 1251 Fairmount Avenue in Elizabeth and the Visions of God Family Worship Church at 350 Leland Avenue in Plainfield.
Residents can turn in up to three firearms and receive up to $250 for each weapon.
“These buyback events offer our residents a secure way to remove unwanted weapons from their possession and ensure they don’t fall into the wrong hands,” said Freeholder Chairman Sergio Granados.
Gun buybacks are designed as an opportunity for anyone to turn in any gun, in any condition, with no questions asked.
The gun buyback event is supported by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and sponsored by the Union County Prosecutor and the Union County Sheriff with the Union County Division of Police and the police departments of the cities of Elizabeth and Plainfield.
