Party Affiliation Declaration forms, originally signed by the voter, must be returned to the Union County Board of Elections by the 55th day prior to the Primary Election. Primary Elections are held on the first Tuesday, following the First Monday in June.
In New Jersey, only Democrats and Republicans may vote in a Primary Election.
Unaffiliated voters must declare an affiliation with either the Democratic Party or the Republican Party and may do so on Election Day. Unaffiliated voters who are voting by mail will be required to declare their party before a ballot is sent.
