Public Art & Mural Grant Program

About the Grant

Through grant funds received from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the County of Union is pleased to offer a special 2022 grant program to fund public art and murals. This grant program will provide financial support of up to $5,000 per municipality, for the creation of a public artwork.

The public artwork created must be located in a public space, to be enjoyed by the general public.

As this is a grant funded in whole by public funds, the County of Union retains final discretion over the content and depictions rendered by each municipality. Discretion should be taken to ensure that the art or mural, including any imagery and words, are appropriate to be viewed by the general public, including children.

  • Deadline to apply: June 15, 2022
  • Notification of funding decision will be issued by June 30, 2022
  • Funds may be used to pay artist(s) or to cover the cost of production and/or installation. Grant funds must be spent by December 31, 2022. Proof of payment to artist or paid supplier receipts will be required.
  • Funds may be used for a public artwork that is new, existing or in-progress.
