Union County Celebrates Read Across America With A Sensory Friendly Bedtime Story

sensory friendly bedtime stories flyerUnion County, NJ – The Union County Board of Commissioners invites families to join Sensory Friendly Bedtime Story, a special online celebration of this year’s Read Across America event hosted by the Office for Persons with Disabilities & Special Needs.

“Read Across America is a wonderful program that engages children all over the country, and with this special online program we hope to ensure that children with special needs and disabilities can participate in this nationwide celebration of the joys of reading,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Alexander Mirabella.

The Sensory Friendly Bedtime Story program, which is being held on Tuesday, March 2, is an inclusive bedtime story program for ages 12 and under featuring guest readers including Board of Commissioners Vice Chair Rebecca L. Williams, Commissioner Sergio Granados, Commissioner Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded, Commissioner Bette Jane Kowalski, Assemblywoman Linda Carter, Human Services Director Debbie-Ann Anderson, and Sheriff Officer Victoria Smith.

The event will be an hour long, starting at 7:30pm.

To join the “Sensory Friendly Bedtime Story” on GotoMeeting, register at ucnj.org/opdsn-reg. Registration is required to receive the link to the program.

In addition to the Sensory Friendly Bedtime Story program, the Office for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs also hosts a Virtual Saturday Series and free virtual yoga, karate, and craft programs through GoToMeeting. To register, visit ucnj.org/opdsn-reg. Please note that space is limited and programs fill up quickly.
