Freeholder Chairman Bruce H. Bergen is joined by the Union County Office of Veterans’ Affairs Director Richard Thompson, who is also a Veteran, as they mark the final round of collections of donations from County residents, and employees for Backpacks for Life—an organization that assists homeless Veterans. Thanks to the tremendous generosity of Union County residents and employees, more than 1,000 pounds of items have been collected. The collection for homeless Veterans is part of Chairman Bergen’s “UC HERO” initiative, offering programs and services for Veterans this year.
