EL CONDADO DE UNION ANUNCIA A LOS DESTINATARIOS DEL PREMIO POR ¡EL CONDADO DE UNION EN EL ESCENARIO! BECAS ESCOLARES Y COMUNITARIAS

 La Junta de Comisionados del Condado de Union desea anunciar los ganadores del premio del Condado de Union On Stage! Subvención Escolar y Comunitaria, como parte de la Iniciativa de Teatro 2023 del Presidente de la Junta de Comisionados Sergio Granados, a través del tema de “Construyendo un Condado de Union más fuerte”, que tiene como objetivo apoyar a los estudiantes y educadores de todo el Condado de Union para brindar educación y disfrute basados en las artes.

“Esta iniciativa de Teatro surge del reconocimiento de que la financiación de las artes suele estar entre los primeros programas que enfrentan recortes presupuestarios y quería apoyar y promover la financiación de las artes para escuelas y organizaciones, destacando nuestro talento local”, dijo el Presidente  Sergio Granados. “Su dedicación a las artes y su compromiso de enriquecer a nuestra comunidad a través de la expresión creativa son verdaderamente encomiables. Estoy seguro de que cada uno de ustedes demostrará un talento y una pasión excepcionales, y no tengo ninguna duda de que sus proyectos inspirarán y elevarán al Condado de Union. Felicitaciones a todos los destinatarios y gracias por contribuir a la vitalidad cultural de Nuestro Condado”.

Esta iniciativa, destinada a brindar un apoyo significativo a los programas de artes escénicas en todo el Condado de Union, estuvo abierta a todas las escuelas secundarias y organizaciones sin fines de lucro exentas de impuestos del Condado de Union, y significa una inversión importante en las artes locales.

¡El Condado de Union en el escenario! El Programa de Subvenciones incluyó dos tipos de subvenciones, por un total de $53,875.00: una subvención escolar, donde todas las escuelas secundarias del Condado de Union eran elegibles para postularse con un monto total de $29,775.00. EL CONDADO DE UNION ANUNCIA PROGRAMA DE NATACIÓN PARA COMENZAR EL 30 DE OCTUBRE

La Junta de Comisionados del Condado de Union se complace en anunciar que, después de su exitoso lanzamiento durante el verano, se implementará completamente la iniciativa del programa piloto “Youth Swim Ready” del Presidente de la Junta de los Comisionados del Condado de Union, Sergio Granados, este otoño. Este programa ofrecerá lecciones de natación gratuitas a jóvenes elegibles en comunidades de todo el Condado.

“A la luz del notable éxito que presenciamos con nuestro programa piloto que ofrece lecciones de natación gratuitas para jóvenes, nos complace anunciar el lanzamiento de un programa de otoño ampliado”, dijo el Presidente, Sergio Granados. “No se puede subestimar la urgencia de tales iniciativas, ya que estadísticas alarmantes revelan que un número significativo de niños corren el riesgo de ahogarse debido a habilidades inadecuadas para nadar. Nuestro compromiso de abordar este problema sigue siendo sólido y, a medida que ampliamos nuestros esfuerzos, pretendemos llegar a más niños de nuestra comunidad, equipándolos con la habilidad de nadar, que les salvará vidas. Juntos, podemos lograr un impacto profundo en la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros residentes más jóvenes”.

De acuerdo con el tema del Presidente Granados para 2023 de “Construir un Condado de Union más fuerte”, este programa se ejecutará de octubre a diciembre a través del Departamento de Parques y Recreación, en asociación con Gateway Family YMCA. Esta iniciativa fue diseñada para atender a dos grupos de edad: de 3 a 5 años y de 6 a 12 años. Se recomienda encarecidamente que los residentes se registren lo antes posible, ya que los espacios son limitados con 78 lugares disponibles.

Los niños/participantes deben residir en hogares de bajos ingresos, deben marcar uno de los criterios de calificación y proporcionar prueba con su inscripción: QCT, TANF, SNAP, NSLP, SBP, Medicare Parte D, SSI, Head Start y Early Head Start. Programa de Nutrición Suplementaria para Mujeres (WIC), Vivienda de la Sección 8, LIHEAP y Becas Pell.

EL CONDADO DE UNION ANUNCIA SEMINARIO DE CONCIENTIZACIÓN SOBRE EL SUICIDIO PARA VETERANOS

La Junta de Comisionados del Condado de Union desea anunciar un próximo Seminario de Concientización sobre el Suicidio, presentado por la Oficina de Servicios para Veteranos y en conjunto con Caridades Católicas, destinado a aumentar la conciencia sobre los recursos comunitarios críticos disponibles para los veteranos y sus familias.

“Creemos que crear conciencia y promover una comunidad de apoyo es esencial para prevenir el suicidio entre los veteranos”, dijo el Presidente de la Junta de Comisionados Sergio Granados. “Este seminario es un paso crucial para garantizar que nuestros veteranos tengan el conocimiento y el apoyo que necesitan para abordar sus problemas de salud mental y acceder a la ayuda disponible para ellos. Tengo la esperanza de que sigamos trabajando juntos para crear un entorno más seguro y empático para nuestros veteranos y sus familias”.

El suicidio entre los veteranos es una preocupación apremiante y la Oficina de Servicios para Veteranos está comprometida a abordar este problema de frente. EL CONDADO DE UNION SERÁ EL PRESIDENTE DE UN EVENTO DE PELÍCULA EN ESCENARIO HAMILTON DEL CENTRO DE ARTES ESCÉNICAS DEL CONDADO DE UNION

La Junta de Comisionados del Condado de Union, en colaboración con la Oficina de Asuntos LGBTQ+ del Condado de Union, invita a los residentes a una presentación cinematográfica bajo techo del favorito de la familia: “Strange World” en Hamilton Stage, en el Centro de Artes Escénicas del Condado de Union en Rahway.

“Este evento promete una experiencia cinematográfica reconfortante e inclusiva que los residentes no querrán perderse”, dijo el Presidente de la Junta de  Comisionados Sergio Granados. “La inclusión está en el corazón de nuestra comunidad y creemos en celebrar nuestra diversidad y fomentar un ambiente donde todos se sientan valorados y respetados. Union County to host Movie Event at Union County Performing Arts Center’s Hamilton Stage

The Union County Board of County Commissioners, in collaboration with  the Union County Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs, invites residents to an indoor movie presentation of the family favorite: “Strange World” at Hamilton Stage, Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway.

“This event promises a heartwarming and inclusive cinematic experience that residents won’t want to miss,” said Commissioner Chairman Sergio Granados. “Inclusivity is at the heart of our community and we believe in celebrating our diversity and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. This movie presentation is a testament to that commitment and I invite you and your friends or family to join us.”

Union County announces Expanded Swim Program to begin October 30th

The Union County Board of County Commissioners are excited to announce that after its successful launch during the summer, a full rollout of Union County Commissioner Chairman Sergio Granados’ “Youth Swim Ready” pilot program initiative this fall. This program will offer free swim lessons to eligible youth in communities across the County.

“In light of the remarkable success we witnessed with our pilot program offering free swimming lessons for youth, we are excited to announce the launch of an expanded fall program,” said Commissioner Chairman Sergio Granados. “The urgency for such initiatives cannot be understated, as alarming statistics reveal that a significant number of children face the risks of drowning due to inadequate swimming skills. Our commitment to addressing this issue remains strong, and as we expand our efforts, we aim to reach even more children in our community, equipping them with the life-saving skill of swimming. Together, we can make a profound impact on the safety and well-being of our youngest residents.”

Keeping in line with Chairman Granados’ 2023 theme of “Building a Stronger Union County,” this program will run from October to December through the Department of Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Gateway Family YMCA. The Union County Board of County Commissioners would like toannounce the award recipients for the Union County On Stage! School & Community Grant, as part of Commissioner Chairman Sergio Granados’ 2023 Theater Initiative, through his Chairman’s theme of “Building a Stronger Union County,” which aims to support students and educators across Union County in providing arts-based education and enjoyment.

“This Theater initiative stems from the recognition that arts funding is often among the first programs to face budget cuts and I wanted to support and promote arts funding for schools and organizations, highlighting our local talent,” said Commissioner Chairman Sergio Granados. “Your dedication to the arts and commitment to enriching our community through creative expression are truly commendable. I am confident that each of you will demonstrate exceptional talent and passion, and I have no doubt that your projects will inspire and uplift Union County. Congratulations to all the recipients, and thank you for contributing to the cultural vibrancy of our county.”

This initiative, aimed at providing significant support to performing arts programs throughout Union County, was open to all Union County high schools and tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, and signifies an important investment in local arts.

The Union County On Stage! Grant Program included two types of grants, totaling $53,875.00: a school grant, where all Union County high schools were eligible to apply with the total amount of $29,775.00. Next was a community grant, which was open to local non-profit organizations in Union County with a tax-exempt status with a total amount of $24,100.00.

Union County Residents Take Top Prizes at Senior Citizens Art Show

The Union County Board of County Commissioners is proud to announce that 12 Union County artists have been selected as award-winners in the 57th annual New Jersey Senior Citizens Art Show. The exhibit includes original works of art created by both professional and non-professional artists, ages 60 and up, from all 21 counties across the state. Every artwork in the statewide exhibit was first entered in the juried exhibit within the artist’s home county, and received a First-Place award in their media category.

“This year’s show is nothing short of spectacular,” said Commissioner Chairman Sergio Granados. “It’s inspiring to see Union County seniors receive recognition in this competitive state-wide show. We are proud that there are so many talented artists in Union County.”

Of 19 artworks by Union County seniors that advanced to the state show, those awarded at the state level are:

To see the show in person, visit the main building of Meadow Lakes Senior Living, 300 Meadow Lakes, in East Windsor. The public can view the artworks now through October 26 (Monday through Saturday, 10:00A.M. – 4:00P.M.).

The New Jersey Senior Citizens Art Show Honors the imagination, skills, and artistic ability of the state’s oldest artists. It is a co-sponsored project of Mercer County’s Division of Culture and Heritage and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. Union County Offers Extra Security for Houses of Worship throughout the Community

The Union County Board of County Commissioners stands in solidarity with the nation of Israel, denouncing the recent attacks by the Hamas terrorist organization. These distressing events highlight the urgent need for lasting solutions that ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their background.

While Union County currently faces no immediate threats, the Union County Board of County Commissioners, Union County Sheriff Peter Corvelli, in collaboration with community members of faith, are taking a proactive approach and have collaborated to enhance security around houses of worship in response to the ongoing events in the Middle East.

“Our commitment to creating an inclusive and unified community remains firm during these turbulent times,” said Commissioner Chairman Sergio Granados. “Our number one priority is the safety of our residents and we remain dedicated to providing a secure and welcoming environment for all community members. We pray for a swift and equitable resolution to the conflict, one that brings enduring peace and stability to the region, benefiting both Israelis and Palestinians.”

“A dedicated team of officers will be offering additional security for houses of worship throughout Union County as an extra sense of peace for those who gather to worship, ensuring that they can do so without fear,” said Sheriff Peter Corvelli. “As the Sheriff of Union County, it is my duty to safeguard all of our residents, and this added layer of protection emphasizes our promise to that mission.”

The Union County Board of County Commissioners continue to share their thoughts and prayers to the people in the regions of both Israelis and Palestinians, as well as to all the victims and their families during this devastating time.
