2026 National Night Out

Union County is proud to present its third annual National Night Out for Everyone, returning as a uniquely inclusive, accessible, and sensory-supportive celebration.
Designed to foster deep community connections in a welcoming environment, this year’s signature event will take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Cranford Campus of UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ.
Built on a foundation of careful planning and community collaboration, this year’s gathering is a joint effort by the Union County Board of County Commissioners, Union County Prosecutor’s Office, Children’s Specialized Hospital, Union County Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Department, Cranford Police Department, and UCNJ.
Together, these partners have worked hand-in-hand with accessibility experts and advocates to ensure every facet of the evening accommodates diverse needs and sensory preferences.
National Night Out is a nationwide campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Union County’s event is a fantastic opportunity to connect with local law enforcement, learn about valuable resources, and celebrate our diverse community in an inclusive, accessible, and sensory-supportive environment.
Union County National Night Out for Everyone promises to be a unique and memorable event for all. Join us as we celebrate community, safety, and inclusion!

“True community safety starts with inclusion. Our ongoing dedication to a sensory-friendly National Night Out ensures that every resident—regardless of ability—experiences a sense of belonging, safety, and genuine connection with the law enforcement officers who serve them,” says Prosecutor William Daniel.
“National Night Out has become one of our most successful and enjoyable community events, and each year we are reminded just how meaningful it is to create a space where everyone feels welcome,” said Union County Commissioner Chairman Joseph C. Bodek. “We love seeing residents of all ages and abilities come together for an evening that is fun, inclusive and full of opportunities to connect with our first responders and one another. From sensory-friendly activities to accessible entertainment, this event is designed so every family can take part, feel comfortable and simply enjoy the night.”
Cranford Police Chief Matthew Nazzaro also shares his excitement for the upcoming inclusive event. “The Cranford Police Department and Cranford Fire Department are pleased to join Union County’s NNO For Everyone at UCNJ this year. All of the same tables at Cranford’s NNO will now be at this event, including a ‘dunk a cop’ fundraiser for Project Home of Cranford, Dragon Popcorn donated by Venue 104 and NJ Property Experts, and a static display of some of our equipment—including Cranford FD’s new Rescue Truck.”
“I am proud that Children’s Specialized Hospital continues to partner with the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and other dedicated community organizations to support this initiative. We continue to work together to ensure National Night Out for Everyone is accessible and sensory-supportive, so more children, including those with disabilities, and their families can participate comfortably,” said Adrienne Robertiello, ACDS, Interim Autism Program Coordinator, Specialized Health Educator at Children’s Specialized Hospital. “These types of positive interactions give children, families, law enforcement, and other Union County partners the opportunity to get to know one another and learn together in an environment centered on safety, connections, and fun. We are honored to contribute our expertise and our focus on inclusion, so everyone has the opportunity to participate. Collaborative initiatives like this build understanding and help make our community safer and more welcoming for everyone.”
“UCNJ is proud to once again welcome National Night Out for Everyone to our Cranford Campus. For the third year, we are pleased to partner with the County of Union, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Cranford Police Department to bring the community together for an evening that promotes connection, trust, and inclusion. As the community’s college, we are committed to fostering opportunities that strengthen relationships and ensure every member of our community feels a sense of belonging,” stated UCNJ President Dr. Margaret M. McMenamin.
Union County Police Chief John DaSilva said, “Strong communities are built when everyone feels welcome. As a father of a child with special needs, I’ve learned that inclusion means making sure everyone has the opportunity to participate in a way that works for them. National Night Out for Everyone brings families together, connects them with valuable local resources, provides for meaningful engagement with law enforcement and demonstrates how a few thoughtful accommodations can make community events more accessible and inclusive. When we take the time to understand and support one another, everyone has the opportunity to participate, feel welcomed, and strengthen the community we all share.”
Union County Sheriff Peter Corvelli Jr. also shares his excitement for this event. “The Union County Sheriff’s Office is proud to support and collaborate with our local law enforcement partners throughout the County for National Night Out.”
