SHEROS – Call for 2026 Nominations
Criteria for Consideration
- Nominee must reside in or be employed in Union County, New Jersey
- Nominee must have made meaningful and significant contributions to their community
- Nominator should provide clear examples of the nominee’s outstanding achievements
- Nominations should clearly describe how the nominee has made a meaningful impact within the Union County community.
Eligibility
- Open to all women, age 18 or older, who live or work in Union County, New Jersey
- The SHERO Award is a one-time recognition; past recipients are not eligible for nomination
- Nominations must include a short paragraph (200 words or less) describing why the nominee deserves recognition
- A public photo of the nominee is required for publication on the County SHERO webpage
- The nomination text and nominator’s name will appear on the webpage
- To preserve the spirit of the award, nominations must be submitted by someone other than the nominee. We encourage community members, colleagues, friends, and family to celebrate and recognize the SHERO in their lives.
Supporting Documentation
- A public photo of the nominee must be included for publication
- A nomination paragraph describing the nominee’s distinctions is required
- Additional supporting materials may be submitted to further highlight the nominee’s impact and achievements

Award recipients will be announced publicly in May 2026

In celebration of Women’s History Month and the remarkable women who strengthen our communities every day, the Union County Board of County Commissioners invites residents to submit nominations for the 2026 Union County SHERO Award. Nominations will be accepted through April 30, 2026.
The Union County SHERO Award recognizes women whose leadership, compassion, advocacy, and dedication have made a lasting impact across Union County. These honorees represent the spirit of service and empowerment that inspires others and helps shape a stronger, more connected community.
Eligible nominees must be at least 18 years of age and either reside or be employed in Union County, New Jersey.

The SHERO Award is a one-time honor, proudly recognizing extraordinary women for their lasting impact. Please view our past SHERO recipients to celebrate their inspiring contributions. To preserve the spirit of the award, nominations must be submitted by someone other than the nominee.

To nominate a deserving SHERO, please submit
- A public photograph of the nominee
- A brief paragraph (200 words or less) highlighting the nominee’s accomplishments and community impact
- Optional supporting documentation showcasing specific examples of leadership, advocacy, or service
