Bring your carved jack-o-lantern to Echo Lake Park the day after Halloween. Watch as your pumpkin is put on a float on the lake, sing songs around the campfire and enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows. Weather permitting.

The ghost of David Felt, the businessman who built the mill town of Feltville 170 years ago, will be your guide as you ride a haywagon through the darkened Village. He will tell stories of mystery and tragedy so well that they will come to life! Then you can walk, if you dare, into the Village’s Revolutionary War period cemetery and meet other historical figures from the beyond. The hour-long program ends with hot chocolate back at the parking lot.

Deserted Village

During Four Centuries in a Weekend

Free Event
With 10 buildings that are up to 170 years old and a cemetery dating to 1776, the Deserted Village of Feltville is Union County’s largest historic site. This annual open house of Feltville offers hayrides, guided and self-guided tours, old-fashioned children’s games, and apple cider pressing. There will be an archaeological activity for children, an archaeologist describing the results of explorations at the site, and a quarterly meeting of the Archaeological Society of New Jersey, open to the public. All activities are free; light refreshments will be available for purchase. Picnic tables are available.

This event will host more than 20 vendors selling minerals, rocks, gemstones, jewelry, sea shells and fossils from around the world. Geologists young and old will be mesmerized by the variety of specimens on display and for sale. Children’s activities will include fossil rubbings, puzzles and a touch table.
