Soumas H.E.R.I.T.A.G.E., Plainfield, provides affordable lesson packages to accommodate you or your family member’s interests, talents and goals. Teachers are dedicated to the growth and music education of beginning and advanced students. Instruction includes 1/2 hour and full hour weekly private lessons on: piano, voice, woodwinds, brass, strings and percussion.

Plainfield Symphony Orchestra has the distinction of being the oldest community orchestra in the state of New Jersey, and the third oldest in the country! Numerous citations dot the walls of their main office at the Crescent Avenue Church, in Plainfield, including proclamations from President Ronald Reagan and the City of Plainfield.
 
Judith G. Wharton Music Center (formerly the Suburban Community Music Center). One of the largest independent non-profit music-schools in New Jersey offers music instruction for virtually everyone – from three-month-olds to seniors – taught by a faculty of some of the finest artist-educators working in and around New York City today.
 
New Jersey Jazz Society provides live jazz concerts to its members and the general public – such as the PeeWee Russell Stomp and Jazzfest. NJJS also sponsors educational outreach programs.

Summit Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1938 by the Summit Board of Recreation with the dual purpose of (1) providing an arena for qualified non-professional musicians to read and perform orchestral music, and (2) presenting orchestral concerts, free of charge, to residents of Summit and the surrounding areas. It has been performing in Summit every year since.
