WFS – Worldwide Flight Services Job Opportunities

Wellness Program for Women offered at Maskers Barn in the Deserted Village of Feltville

Union County, NJ Union County is offering a free yoga, meditation class and emotional wellness event for women titled, “International Women’s Day – The Time is Now,” on Friday evening, March 9, at Maskers Barn in the historic Deserted Village of Feltville. The event is the latest edition in a free series conducted through the Department of Human Services Division on Outreach and Advocacy’s Office on Women.

“This wellness series represents the steady growth of Union County’s recreational and educational programs to embrace new activities and meet a wider range of interests,” said Freeholder Chairman Sergio Granados. “We want to ensure that every resident has the opportunity to engage with popular new pastimes that contribute to overall health and well- being.” 

  • A short talk and introduction with time to network.
  • Yoga session by Nicole DeAugustine, certified yoga instructor.
  • Guided meditation ceremony with Rosie Lazroe, RYT & YACEP.
  • Fire ceremony.
  • Light snacks provided by Whole Foods.

“International Women’s Day – The Time is Now” begins at 6:00 p.m. on March 9 and is expected to conclude at approximately 9:00 p.m.

Attendees should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for yoga, and bring their own yoga mats.

The event is free but space is limited. Pre-registration is required online at ucnj.org/women.

The Deserted Village is located in the Berkeley Heights section of Union County’s Watchung Reservation. Masker’s Barn is a fully renovated 19th century building located at 9 Cataract Hollow Road in the Deserted Village, off Glenside Avenue.

The Office on Women was created in 2016. As the first county-based office of its kind in New Jersey, the Office on Women aims to help ensure that women connect with services and programs that enable them to reach their full potential at every stage of their lives, in education, in employment and business, health and in the social fabric of Union County, and to raise awareness of the many contributions that women make to life in Union County.

La Escribana del Condado de Union Informa un Aumento de Ingresos, Reflejando una Fuerte Economía

La escribana del Condado de Union Joanne Rajoppi informa que los ingresos por registro de propiedades en su oficina llegaron a un total de  $44.29 millones en  2017, un  10  por ciento de  aumento del año 2016 y el más alto desde el colopaso financiero mundial en el 2008.

El volumen de aumento en la oficina de Pasaportes también aumentó en el 2017.  Ganancias de esta division alcanzó la más alta en la historia con un total de  $763, 237.

“En el el total fue $40.44 millones por registro de propiedades, y fue el más alto antes del colapso,” dijo la Sra. Rajoppi. “El aumento de $44.29 millones en 2017 representa evidencia de que la actividad economica en el Condado de Union continua fortaleciendoce y recuperandose del derrumbe del 2008 y casi lo alcanza”

El ingreso por las transaciones de propiedades  alcanzó su punto máximo antes del colapso financiero del 2008,   $48 millones en  2006, y  $45 millones en 2007 y $38 millones en  2008. En los años siguientes nunca subieron de  $23 millones.

La Sra. Rajoppi señaló que por tres años seguidos, los ingresos por ejecuciones hipotecarias han disminuido.

“Esa es un area donde los ingresos bajos son buenas noticias,” añadio  Rajoppi. “Durante el  2016 hubo 1,881 ejecuciones hipotecarias en el Condado de Union, y los números bajaron a 1,490 en 2017.”

“Nuestro personal experimentado presta un servicio excelente, y nuestra plataforma de registro electrónico es accesible  24/7,” dijo Joanne Rajoppi. “Aproximadamente el 12 por ciento de todos los documentos se registran electronicamente.

En el  2016 la oficina de la Escribana del Condado de Union era una de solo cinco condados  e 1,200  disponible para recibir el Premio Nacional 2016 por  se la Pionera en Registro Electrónico y  por demostrar liderazgo en el uso de tecnología.

La Escribana del Condado de Union Aconseja a los Residentes del Condado de Union Sobre la Importancia de Identificación para Viajar

La Escribana del Condado de Union  Joanne Rajoppi le aconseja a los residentes que son ciudadanos de Estados Unidos  que estén seguros que su pasaporte este al  día, o de obtener uno si no lo tienen. Los pasaportes están entre las formas de identificación que se aceptan para los viajes domesticos bajo la ley federal  REAL ID Act of 2005. La licencia de conducir se acepta para viajes domesticos solamente  si  cumple con los patrones del REAL ID. New Jersey está entre el grupo de estados  que  perdió la fecha límite de cumplimiento del 2016 y recibió  extensión hasta el mes de octubre del 2018.

“Las licencias de conducir de New Jersey se pueden usar para viajes domesticos hasta que la extension se cumpla.,” dijo la Sra. . Rajoppi. “El pasaporte ofrece 10 de tranquilidad para los adultos .”

“Se necesita apropiada documentación para abordar un vuelo domestico, lo mismo que para viajes de ultramar, pero sin embargo el pasaporte es aceptado para ambos,” añadió la Sra.Rajoppi. “Con un pasaporte valido, nunca tiene que preocuparse cuando tenga que volar.”

La Sra. Rajoppi también aconsejó a los residentes que progamen sus viajes de primavera y verano para que puedan obtener su pasaporte ahora y no tener que esperar hasta el momento de volar.

“El Departamento de Estado está tomando de cuatro a seis semanas para completar las transaciones,” dijo  Rajoppi.

Los residentes del Condado pueden procesar las aplicaciones de los pasaportes y renovaciones a través de la Oficina de la Escribana, en la oficina principal 2 Broad Street en Elizabeth o en la oficina de Westfield, 300 North Avenue East en Westfield. La fotos pueden  hacerlas en ambas oficinas por un modico precio. La oficina de Westfield tiene horas en la noche y los sábados..

Passport Fees Set to Increase this Spring: Plan Ahead to Avoid Paying More

Union County, NJ – Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi advises Union County residents that the US Department of State is raising the Passport Execution Fee from $25.00 to $35.00 on April 2. The fee is mandated by the Department of State. It applies to passport applications that are submitted to an authorized agent, including a US Post Office, County Clerk or other government office.

Passport applications submitted to the Department of State by mail are not subject to the fee increase.

“The April 2 fee increase provides an additional incentive to obtain or update a passport now rather than waiting,” said Ms. Rajoppi. “By completing passport transactions at this time of year, Union County residents can avoid the last-minute rush of the busy spring travel season, and save money, too.”

The County Clerk’s office provides two convenient locations for submitting passport applications, in Elizabeth and Westfield. The Westfield office also provides evening and weekend hours.

Applicants can also have their passport photograph taken at the County Clerk’s office for a fee of $10.00

Union County Women’s Donation Drive

Union County Freeholder Chairman Sergio Granados and Freeholder Angel G. Estrada joined Nathalie Hernandez, Coordinator of the Union County Office of Community Engagement & Diversity, and Jen Erdos of the Union County Office on Women in delivering donations to YWCA Eastern Union County Executive Director Janice  C. Lilien and YWCA Director of Development and Marketing Jennifer M. Vriens at the YWCA Union County Domestic Violence Shelter in Elizabeth.

Four large boxes of items for women and children were collected at Union County office buildings in January during the Union County Women’s Donation Drive that was coordinated by the Office of Community Engagement & Diversity with the Office on Women to benefit the domestic violence shelter

Just “ASK” for Information about Senior Services in Union County

Union County, NJUnion County residents seeking information about services for seniors age 60 and up can visit the “ASK” Aging Services Kiosk program at eight convenient locations in February to speak with staff from the county’s Department of Human Services Division on Aging. ASK will be available at public libraries or municipal buildings in Clark, Winfield, Fanwood, Union, Mountainside, Plainfield, Linden, and Summit.

“The ASK programs brings experts from our central office out to local communities, so that seniors can get personal guidance and assistance close to their homes,” said Freeholder Chairman Sergio Granados. “It’s an especially important service in the winter months, when travel can be difficult.”

In the ASK community outreach effort, staff from the Union County Division on Aging and Disability Resource Connection travel throughout Union County providing information about home delivered meals, respite care, home care, adult day care and other support services for seniors and caregivers.

All residents may attend any of the ASK events on the schedule.

“The goal is make it easier to access information that helps seniors enjoy a more comfortably and healthful life, so if you don’t see your municipality on this month’s schedule, you may visit any of the others,” said Granados.

Assistance with completing applications and forms is also provided.

The goal of the Union County Division on Aging and Disability Resource Connection goal is to promote wellness, independence, dignity and choice for seniors and their families. It is one of 670 “Area Agencies on Aging” nationwide established under the federal Older Americans Act.  The division has information printed in both English and Spanish.

“The Aging & Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) model, a state initiative that Union County has embraced since 2012, is designed to improve service for seniors and the disabled,” said Union County’s Freeholder Chairman Sergio Granados. “These services can enable seniors and the disabled to remain in their homes and communities,” Freeholder Granados added.

Charlas Gratuitas en el Trailside Center en Febrero y Marzo

 

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ – La Junta de Legisladores del Condado de Union se complace en anunciar dos charlas gratuitas para adultos y estudiantes de escuela secundaria (high school) en el Trailside Nature y Science Center. 

“Vengan y disfruten de estos programas muy estimulantes este invierno en el ”, dijo el Legislador  Chairman Bruce H. Bergen.  “Es una forma de reunirse con sus amigos para una experiencia educative sin gasto alguno.”  

El viernes , 16 de febrero de 7:00 a  8:00 p.m. John Prescott, Coordinador de Programas de Historia de la Oficina del Condado de Union de Asusntos de Cultura y Herencia, rastreará la historia afroamericana, con relatos de nuestro condado  desde la Guerra Revolucionaria. Este relato reconoce y celebra la herencia y las contribuciones de los Afroamericanos en la comunidad del Condado de Union.        

           El sábado 24 de marzo de 2:00 a 3:00 p.m. Paul Cirillo Embajador del Sistema Solar de NASA presentará una gira fotografica de los planetas, asteroides y cometas en nuestro Sistema Solar. La charla también destacará las presentes y futuras misiones de NASA y del laboratorio de Propulsión Reactiva que ha planeado explorar estas maravillas celestiales. Habrá suficiente tiempo para preguntas y respuestas.
