Union County Freeholder Chair Bette Jane Kowalski and Freeholders Andrea Staten, Rebecca Williams and Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded joined Assemblywoman Linda Carter in welcoming the keynote speaker Linda Wellbrock, founder of Leading Women Entrepreneurs and Secretary of the Climate Reality Action Fund, to the annual Union County Women Mean Business skill building seminar and networking event at the Clubhouse at Union County’s Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth.

Linda Wellbrock is the CEO and Founder of Leading Women Entrepreneurs, an initiative created to commend women entrepreneurs for their service, leadership, contribution to their communities and the state’s economic  recovery.

Linda has dedicated more than a decade of her career to the overall advancement of women and diversity efforts.

Through Leading Women Entrepreneurs, Linda has created a national platform to showcase the efforts and accomplishments of some of the most innovative and influential women entrepreneurs.

Prior to the formation of Leading Women Entrepreneurs, Linda co-founded Own It Ventures and held high visibility conferences and forums to enable women entrepreneurs at all the stages the opportunity to gain the           education and make the connections to move their professional goals     forward.

She spent several years in publishing industry where she served as Vice President of Business Development and    Associate Publisher for a professional women’s publication. In addition to writing feature articles on some of the most influential women in the state, her responsibilities focused on managing sales efforts, launching events and developing and implementing effective marketing campaigns.

She began her career in the financial industry working for leading financial institutions including UBS and Merrill Lynch.

Most recently, Linda has taken her successful platform globally through her creation of global women entrepreneurial retreats in countries including Norway and Ireland.

Diana Calle

Diana was born in New York City of Ecuadorian parents. She currently works for the County of Union, Division of Personnel Management and Labor Relations. Diana received her Master in Public Administration from Kean University in 2015 and her Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and Psychology from Kean University in 2012.

Ms. Calle was inducted into the National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration, Pi Alpha Alpha and elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. In 2014, she was also selected to participate in the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program in Washington, D.C. In 2013, she completed the NJ Governor’s Hispanic Fellows Program, assigned to ASPIRA Inc. of NJ.

Diana currently serves as the Treasurer, and the Co-Chair of the 2019 Young Latina Leadership Scholarship Committee of LUPE Fund, Inc., whose mission is to Educate, Empower, and Engage Latinas in the State of New Jersey. She has also served in the capacity of Co-Chair of the 2017 Young Latina Leadership Conference and a committee member for the Latina Summit Statewide Conference.

Ms. Calle also served in various professional organizations such as the Membership Chairperson of the Hispanic Latino Alumni Council (HLAC), Inc., the Executive Coordinator of the 5th Latino Youth Leadership Conference of Boy to Leaders Foundation, and a mentor for HISPA (Hispanic Inspiring Students’ Performance and Achievement). Susan P. Ascher

Susan P. Lena Cohen

Keynote Speaker – First Lady Tammy Snyder Murphy

Tammy Snyder Murphy’s upbringing, career, and worldview have been consistently shaped and defined by family, education, service, and leadership. Whether running for student office during college, thriving in a competitive and male-dominated industry, starting and working with nonprofits, or joining the Women’s March in Trenton, Tammy has always believed in problem-solving through coalition-building and participation.

Tammy and Governor Philip D. Murphy have been married for 23 years and together have four children: Josh, Emma, Charlie, and Sam. A transformative experience for the Murphy family was proudly representing the United States in the Federal Republic of Germany. Tammy, individually and together with her husband, spoke and led on behalf of the United States of America. She chaired meetings, gave speeches, and hosted meals and receptions, strengthening our nation’s relationship with a critical ally while impacting the lives of thousands of Germans and Americans. Before joining Union County College last year as the Director of Purchasing, Phyllis worked at Chubb Insurance for 18 years and Continental Airlines for 12 years prior. I’ve always tried to live a healthy lifestyle: consistently mindful of my food choices and the incorporation of activity into my weekly routine.  In my mind, cheating every now and again on my diet and exercise plan was acceptable because I believed my lifestyle was relatively consistent. Despite my efforts, the work I was putting into my diet and exercise plan weren’t consistent with my actual results—in fact, just the opposite was happening!  When the scale was just shy of 200 pounds I recognized that I needed to make a life changing commitment to myself.  I set clear goals and vowed I would do      whatever it took to reach them.  I also took ownership over my excuses and no longer allowed myself to use cravings, my PCOS diagnosis, genetics or high cholesterol as an excuse for my weight issues.

Through experimenting with a variety of wholesome foods, I was able to learn through experience how the foods with which we choose to fuel ourselves can truly affect our body and mindset. I learned that my body was unique; there was not one diet plan that would work for everyone.  

This positive lifestyle change is what put me on this path to becoming a health coach. I wanted to use my personal experiences to help others make changes to live a healthier, happier life!

I have been blessed to find my passion in life as a health coach and personal trainer. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in          Psychology, as well as a health counseling certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and a certified personal      training certificate from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. They were joined by Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi.

Huff delivered the keynote address at the event that was designed to help women grow their business networks and build critical skills. UCWMB is an initiative of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
