Sally Straus of the Township of Union

4th Annual Union County Means Business Networking Breakfast

Union County Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella, Vice Chairman Angel G. Estrada, Freeholder Angela Garretson and Freeholder Andrea Staten this morning welcomed leadership coach Tony Chatman as the keynote speaker at the 4th Annual Union County Means Business Networking Breakfast at Kean University in Union. Tony Chatman has worked with hundreds of corporations and government agencies including the Chase Bank, Estee Lauder, NOAA and NASA.

Union County Means Business is an initiative of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, aimed at connecting the business community with hands-on guidance and resources for growth. For more information about Union County Means Business programs, visit ucnj.org/ucmb.

Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi Offers Notary Training Seminar, April 3

Union County, NJ — Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi will host a training seminar for New Jersey Notaries Public at the John H. Stamler Police Academy, 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains, on Friday, April 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

“We offer this opportunity as a professional course that benefits the whole community, and all are welcome,” said Ms. Rajoppi. “The seminar is also popular with current notaries who wish to ensure that they are up to date on issues affecting notaries.”

Ms. Rajoppi will introduce the session and review the application process. Union County Surrogate LaCorte, Esq. will speak about the legal aspects of the functions of notaries public.

The seminar will cover the steps for proper notarization and other topics, including how to complete a notary journal and how to examine identification documents.

Coffee and a light breakfast will be served. Attendees should note that the Business Casual dress code at the John J. Stamler Police Academy is strictly enforced. Jeans and sneakers are not permitted, and men must wear shirts with collars.

Registration is required to attend and space is limited to the first 50 registrants. A fee of $10.00 is required to secure a spot. Downloadable registration forms are available through the County Clerk’s website, at ucnj.org/county-clerk/new-jersey-notary-training.

“Union County Means Business” “ El Condado de Union Significa Empresas” Desayuno Presentando al Renombrando Orador Tony Chatman, el 19 de Febrero

Tony Chatman ha trabajado con cientos de empresas y agencias gubernamentales.

Condado de Union, NJ – La Junta de Legisladores del Condado de Union se complace en darle la bienvenidad al internacionalmente conocido orador inspiracional Tony Chatman como orador principal en el cuarto  Desayuno Anual  “Union County Means Business”/ El Condado de Union Significa Empresas.

El evento se llevará a cabo el miércoles, 19 de febrero a las 8:30 a.m. en el  Kean University STEM Building, 1075 Morris Avenue en  Union y está abierto a todos los dueños de negocios, gerentes y emprendedores del Condado de Union. El desayuno está incluído pero se necesita previa inscripción en la página ucnj.org/ucmb.

“El Sr. Chatman es muy conocido por su abilidad en conocer a las personas con conocimiento práctico que los ayuda a alcanzar sus metas en sus empresas y en la vida. Se enfoca en la diversidad especialmente en los negocios y empresas de la comunidad,y su conocimiento acquirido en ciencia y comportamiento humano le proporciona relaciones únicas con las personas,” dijo el Legislador Presidente Alexander Mirabella.

Tony Chatman ha trabajado con cientos de empresas, corporaciones y agencias gubernamentales que incluyen el Servicio Secreto de Estados Unidos, el Chase Bank, Estee Lauder, NOAA y NASA. Como orador el es conocido por su pasión, presencia escénica e intensidad.

Tony ha sido el único Afroamericano en recibir una licenciatura de la prestigiosa Western Michigan University Escuela de Ciencia y Tecnología. Mientras trabajaba como ingeniero químico para una compañia, tuvo una experiencia que le cambio la vida con un jóven en riesgo que lo inspiró  a comenzar una nueva carrera en el sector no lucrativo. Su trabajo en consejería y asesoramiento  lo llevo a estudiar el comportamiento humano con la intención de entender lo que hace a las personas que salten, sobresalgan y cambien..

El Sr. Chatman pronunció su primera charla en el 2018 y recientemente completó su primer libro, The Force Multiplier: How to Lead Teams Where Everyone Wins.

Union County Means Business es una iniciativa de la Junta de Legisladores del Condado de Union, designada a conectar las empresas locales de la comunidad guiándolas  hacia el crecimiento. Comenzó en el 2012 bajo la Presidencia de Alexander Miraabella, y desde entonces ha crecido para incluir programas adicionales.

El Condado de Union Ofrece Actividades para el Invierno, Primavera, Verano y Otoño Dentro y Fuera

Desde un museo interactivo y una pista de patinaje público, un tren modelo alucinante, y un teatro de los años 1920 completamente restaurado, el Condado de Union está lleno de únicas y diferentes atracciones para los residentes y visitantes en busca de actividades bajo techo en los fríos meses de invierno.

Las actividades de invierno están incluídas en las  52 Great Things to Do in Union County This Year (52  Grandes Eventos que Hacer Este Año en el Condado de Union), una lista recién actualizada, de los eventos y programas que ofrece y apoya el Condado de Union en todas las temporadas, disponible en la página del Condado ucnj.org/52.

“Esperamos que esta nueva lista actualizada pueda ayudar a los residentes y visitantes a descubrir todo lo que el Condado de Union tiene que ofrecer especialmente en los meses de invierno cuando es difícil estar al aire libre,” dijo el Legislador Presidente Alexander Mirabella.

El sistema de parques del Condado de Union incluye el Deserted Village de Feltville, un Campo de Tiro y Flecha, un establo, parques de patinaje entre otras características únicas.

Se acercan las “Festividades de Febrero” el 15 y el 17 de este mes en el Condado de Union, una serie de programas para las familias  en el Trailside Nature and Science Center, en la Reservación de Watchung en Mountainside.

Además de los programas en los parques, el Condado de Union patrocina un gran número de eventos de arte e historia a través del año incluyendo el Sensory Friendly Theatre serie para audiencias con problemas sensoriales. El próximo de estos eventos para personas especiales será la presentación de Cinderella por el Ballet de New Jersey en el UCPAC en Rahway el 8 de marzo.

Se Anuncian los Premios 2020 de Las Mujeres Destacadas del Condado de Union

– La Comisión sobre el Prestigio de las Mujeres, se complace en anunciar las ganadoras de 2020 del premio Anual a las “Mujeres Destacadas”. Diez mujeres del Condado  de Union fueron elegidas por sus destacadas contribuciones. Las ganadoras serán honradas en la Gala Anual el 27 de marzo, 2020.

 Por  28 años, la Junta de Legisladores ha acreditado a mujeres quienes han sido líderes, han servido y han sido inspiración para muchos. Hoy es más importante que nunca crear conciencia sobre la influencia de las mujeres en todas las esferas de la comunidad del Condado de Union, desde empresas, asuntos legales, servicio público y educación,” dijo el Legislador Presidente, Alexander Mirabella. “Estamos orgullosos de poder reconocer sus contribuciones que tanto han ayudado a la calidad de vida del Condado de Union.”

Las mujeres del Condado de Union que han sido elegidas por sus logros por la Comisión sobre el Prestigio de las Mujeres son:

Las ganadoras serán honradas en la Gala Anual  de Mujeres Destacadas Cena de Premiación, que se llevará a cabo el 27 de marzo, 2020. A cada ganadora se le presentará con una placa y una Resolución en su honor reconociendo el impacto de su labor en la comunidad del Condado de Union.

La Cena de Gala tendrá lugar en el Gran Centurions in Clarka las 6:00 pm. El costo es de $60 por persona.

Los premios a Las Mujeres Destacadas son patrocinados por la Junta de Legisladores y la Comisión sobre el Prestigio de las Mujeres, y la Oficina del Condado de Union de Asuntos de las Mujeres.

28th Annual Union County Women of Excellence Awardees Announced

Union County, NJ – The Union County Commission on the Status of Women is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2020 Women of Excellence Awards. Ten Union County women were selected to receive awards for their outstanding contributions. The awardees will be honored at the annual Women of Excellence Gala Awards Dinner on March 27, 2020.

“For 28 years, the Freeholder Board has recognized women among us who lead, serve, and inspire. Through their work, they raise awareness about the influence of women in every sphere of the Union County community, from business and legal affairs to public service and education,” said Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella. “We are proud to acknowledge their contributions towards a positive difference in the quality of life for everyone in the County.”

The Union County women being recognized for their accomplishments by the Commission on the Status of Women are:

The Women of Excellence awards are sponsored by the Freeholder Board and the Union County Commission on the Status of Women, with the Union County Office on Women.

Union County Freeholders Offer “UC Means Green” Community Garden Grants

Union County, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2020 Union County Means Green community garden grants program. The UC Means Green program supports improved nutrition as well as new opportunities for recreation, social activities, education and community service through the experience of growing fresh produce in local neighborhoods.

“UC Means Green enables gardeners of all ages and abilities  to work cooperatively, share with the community, and enjoy the satisfaction of growing fresh food,” said Union County Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella.

UC Means Green was launched by the Freeholder Board in 2016. Since then, it has helped to transform bare fields and empty lots into thriving centers for community activities, with thousands of pounds of fresh produce raised for local consumption and donated to local food pantries.

Any Union County municipality or local nonprofit organization with 501-(c)-3 tax exempt status is welcome to apply for a UC Means Green grant. Groups organized as LLCs or other commercial entities are not eligible to apply. Gardens must be located on municipal property or on property owned by a non-profit organization (gardens located on privately owned or commercial property are not eligible).

In addition to traditional soil-based gardens, eligible garden types include but are not limited to rooftop gardens, vertical gardens, aeroponic gardens, mushroom gardens, milk crate gardens, pollinator gardens (must include food-producing plants), rain gardens (must include pollinator-attracting and food-producing plants), hay bale gardens, forest gardens and more.

Applications for a 2020 grant are due by March 27.
