County of Union, New JerseyEl domingo 28 de junio, 2015 se celebró en la Ciudad de Elizabeth el cuarto año de la Gran Parada Colombiana celebrando la fecha de su Independencia. Este año el Legislador del Condado de Union Angel G. Estrada fue elegido como Gran Mariscal de la Parada, y también hizo presencia el Legislador Sergio Granados y el Aguacil del Condado de Union Joe Cryan.

Condado de Union, NJ – La Junta de Legisladores del Condado de Union se complace en anunciar que ha sido incluído en la última ronda de fondos aprobados por la Preservación del Estado de New Jersey (GSPT) y el Departamento de Protección Ambiental.
Fuera de nivel a lo largo del estado de un total de $102.3 millones en subsidios aprobados por GSPT para la acquisición de espacios de recreación, el Condado de Union recibió un subsidio compartido de $1.65 millones.
“Este es uno de los más grandes subsidios recibido por el Condado de Union,” dijo el Legislador Presidente Mohamed S. Jalloh. “Nuestra población está creciendo, y estos fondos nos permite continuar preservando espacios para mejorar nuestras instalaciones para la recreación del público.”
Jalloh mencionó que la Junta de Legisladores usará esos fondos para ayudar a compensar los terrenos adquiridos previamente por la División Recreación y Preservación Historica del Condado de Union.
Los fondos fiduciarios del Condado fueron establecidos por un referéndum popular en el año 2000 con un apoyo abrumador por los votantes. Desde entonces, este ha preservado más de 300 hectáreas para espacios libres y recreación para los residentes y el público en general, mientras que a la vez ha ayudado con fondos a la recreación de las municipalidades y a preservar proyectos históricos.
Los $102.3 millones approbados por GSPT incluyen $93.3 millones para gobiernos locales y grupos sin fines de lucro, y $9 milloes para proyectos del Estado en acquisición de terrenos.
Además de los $1.65 millones otorgados al Condado de Union, GSPT recomendó aprobar varios subsidios que serán aplicados a municipalidades dentro del Condado. Estas son las siguientes:

KENILWORTH, NJ—El Condado de Union presentará una noche de Diversión Familiar con Fuegos Artificiales el domingo 5 de julio, de 5 p.m. al 10 p.m. en el Campo de Golf de Galloping Hill, 3 Golf Drive, en Kenilworth. La admission es gratis y el evento se llevará a cabo aunque llueva.
Habrá entretenimiento gratis, que incluye música, y juegos para los niños. Los asistententes podrán comprar comida ya que tendremos diferentes tipos de ella, BBQ al estilo del Sur, Italian Ice y pretzels, y también comida Latina. Música en vivo por Big Bang Baby comenzando a las 7 p.m. Los Fuegos Artificiales comienzan al oscurecer.
Estacionamineto gratis y servicio de transporte hasta el Campo de Golf en Kenilworth sera proporcionado por el Union County College en Cranford que está localizado en 1033 Springfield Avenue. El servicio de transporte funcionará continuamente de 4:30 p.m. hasta el final del evento. Tenga en cuenta que no habrá estacionamiento disponible en el Campo de Golf para el public, sin embargo aquellos que sufren de discapacidad y tienen permiso se les permitirá estacionarse. También habrá un bus paratransporte para los que necesiten transporte acesible al Campo de Golf desde el Union County College en Cranford.
Se les pide al public que traigan sillas y colchas para sentarse en el césped. Pueden también traer comida pero no alcohol.

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ – The popular Wednesday Matinee Series at Trailside Nature & Science Center returns on July 1, offering family entertainment beginning at 1:30 p.m. All shows, which run approximately 45 minutes, are recommended for children ages 4 years of age and up. Admission is $5.00 per person and tickets go on sale at 1:00 p.m. the day of the show.
“The Summer Wednesday Matinee Series at Trailside presents imaginative, interactive and educational shows which teach and entertain the whole family,” said Union County Freeholder Chairman Mohamed S. Jalloh.
The Wednesday Matinee Series concludes on August 12 with “Abracadabra, It’s Joe Fisher.” This show is a blend of magic, audience participation, comedy and excitement.

RAHWAY, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders announces that its next mobile paper-shredding program for confidential personal documents will be available on Thursday, July 9, at Rahway River Park in Rahway.
“Union County’s mobile document-shredding service helps residents fight identity theft and eliminate clutter in their homes,” said Freeholder Chairman Mohamed S. Jalloh. “It is a cost-effective way to assist our recycling efforts and it ties in with Union County’s other Go Green Initiatives.”
The July 9th shredding event will take place at Rahway River Park in Rahway, off St. Georges Avenue. NEXCUT Shredding of Elizabeth will be shredding documents at the site from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine. The shredding event will end before 1 p.m. if the shredding truck reaches capacity.
All Union County residents are eligible to use the paper-shredding service. In an effort to accommodate everyone, there is a limit of four, 10-pound bags or boxes per person. Documents should not be bound. Please remove plastic binders and paperclips. Paper that is wet/damp will not be accepted. Residents should continue to recycle non-confidential papers and magazines with their municipal recycling program.\
Documents are put into 96-gallon containers provided by the shredding company. The items are dumped onto a conveyor belt and shredded on site. Participants are welcome to view the shredding process via a closed-circuit television. Shredded documents are then recycled, shipped to paper mills and used as pulp. The next shredding event will take place Saturday, August 8, on the campus of Kean University in Union.
The mobile shredding program is paid for through New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Recycling Enhancement Act Grant Funds. KENILWORTH, NJ—The County of Union will present a night of Family Fun and Fireworks on Sunday, July 5th from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Galloping Hill Golf Course, 3 Golf Drive, in Kenilworth. Admission is free, and the event will be held rain or shine.
There will be free entertainment, including music, and inflatables for children. Attendees will be able to purchase food from trucks offering Italian Ice and hot pretzels, Southern Style Smoked BBQ and Latin food. Live music performed by Big Bang Baby will begin at 7 p.m. Fireworks will begin at dark.
Free parking and shuttle service to the Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth will be provided from Union County College in Cranford which is located at 1033 Springfield Avenue. Shuttles will run continuously from 4:30 p.m. until the end of event. Please note there will not be parking available on site at the Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth for the general public, however those who are disabled and provide parking permits will be permitted to park on site. There will also be a paratransit bus available for those who need accessible transportation to Galloping Hill from Union County College in Cranford.
The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for use on the lawn of the driving range of the facility, where the event will occur. The public may bring food in for picnicking but no alcohol.
