Winter Storm Warning in Effect from midnight Wednesday to 8:00 pm Thursday

The County of Union is under a Winter Storm warning from midnight Wednesday through 8:00 pm Thursday.

Heavy mixed winter precipitation transitioning to heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 16 inches and light ice accumulations are expected. Travel will be very difficult to impossible, including during the evening commute on Wednesday. Expect significant reductions in visibility at times.

Use caution when walking, biking, or driving.

The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders would like to remind you of these tips regarding power outages during storm events:

Public Utility contact and outage links are posted at www.ucnj.org. Please report all power outages directly to your utility company.

Before an Outage

  • Charge cell phones
  • Gather supplies
  • Turn refrigerator/freezers to a colder setting

During an Outage

  • Stay clear of downed power lines
  • Turn off all appliances
  • Keep refrigerator/freezer doors closed to prevent food spoilage
  • Do not use generators indoors
